Values & Purpose

Values

Friendship

We encourage building connections between people and providing an authentic and supportive and safe environment, increasing the sense of belonging and purpose of all involved in the Friendship Games.

Respect

We foster an environment where we value the qualities, ideas, beliefs and abilities of all people and treat them with courtesy, politeness, kindness and dignity.

Diversity

We appreciate differences in age, gender, ethnicity, education, physical abilities, race, and religion among individuals to encourage a broad-minded outlook, open to innovations and ideas to benefit all involved in the Friendship Games.

Our guiding principles are based on our values of Friendship, Respect and Diversity.

The Games is a delivery mechanism for social investment into our youth and a framework for international co-operation, inclusion and social capital building. It is also a platform for sharing and providing important messages for our youth on education, health and culture.

Western Australia already has a strong trade relationship with many Asian nations, however it is important we continue to strengthen our ‘soft’ diplomatic relationships by delivering social capital benefits through sport, while promoting tourism and educational opportunities for our international guests. The Games plan to take a strong lead in this space by re-establishing The Games biennially and building it over the next ten years to become the best youth event in Australia.

The Games welcome all youth aged 15-18yrs in Australia and from our partnering countries.

Our Purpose

Our overall objective is to improve the long term social cohesion, youth engagement, health and wellbeing of our communities locally and internationally. The Games will deliver a multi sport engagement platform to encourage participation and provide a positive inclusive environment for all youth aged between 15-18 years of age.

To enhance strategic relationships by providing pathways and platforms for inclusion using innovative collaboration between Australia, ASEAN and First Nations communities.

To bring together our sports youth communities including remote and regional participants with our broader community of Western Australia including Government, industry and corporate WA for social and economic benefit, showcasing Western Australia including our people, places, culture and shared history.

Create sustainable impact by providing connectivity, pathways and platforms for enhanced collaboration using sports, culture and education platforms, creating social cohesion between Communities, Government and Industry through innovation and engagement.

Provide a platform for First Nations people to connect with other indigenous and non-indigenous youth to foster community spirit and social cohesion by promoting positive relationships for Australia locally and internationally.

To create a global sports event aligned to the Sports Diplomacy 2030 strategic priorities, by increasing awareness of the Australian cultural exchange opportunities, leveraging the positive international connections during the Games and enhancing Australia’s reputation as an inclusive and respectful country.
